  1. What's this about going to see a movie?

I have a group of friends which I take out to see the movies every once in a while because I have the hookup for major release opening night tickets. A few people went with me a few years ago to see some movie (Star Wars Ep. I?) and it kind of snowballed.

  2. Where?

Usually the AMC Mercado 20 in Santa Clara or the Metreon in San Francisco. It's got big freakin' yellow stars sticking out of a sign next to 101 a bit south of Great America Parkway.

    AMC Mercado 20
    3111 Mission College Blvd.
    Santa Clara, CA 95054
    (408) 871-2AMC

    Metreon
    101 Fourth St.
    Yerba Buena Gardens
    San Francisco, CA 94103
    415-369-6200

Also try http://findu.com/cgi-bin/find.cgi?call=kf6rgf for the current location of my car, which will be at the movie theatre we're meeting at.

  3. How much?

Assuming there are no more increases in ticket price, $10 cash or paypal://thalakan@technologist.com/. I collect at the theatre, or the first time I see you if you have a big (>=3) subgroup coming. You'll need cash anyway if you're planning on getting overpriced hot dogs and popcorn from the concession stand, since there's usually a unreasonable line at the ATM.

  4. What kind of people are in this group?

Mainly interesting unix hackers and internetworking people. If the coffee holder/cdrom tray joke doesn't ring a bell, you may not fit in very well. But then, you wouldn't be getting this email :)

Actually, you're welcome to bring friends (who might not get the joke) up to two degrees of separation from me, otherwise it's kind of awkward socially. Use your good judgement.

  5. Food?

Usually we break out into subgroups with our own arrangements, although there's usually a last minute coffee run before the movie starts. There's a semi-regular pre-movie dinner thing at the Taxi's near the Mercado, but that's not guaranteed. There's usually a few jumbo buckets of popcorn floating around, too.

  6. Contact?

    650 380 1430.
